The German book market is, with output currently standing at 96,500 new titles in 2007, one of the most prolific in the world. Fiction accounts for just over 35 per cent of new publications, law and business titles around 15 per cent, and books for children and young people a further 8 per cent.

The Frankfurt Book Fair is not just active for the five days in October. All year round, it supports German and international publishing companies in accessing foreign markets, it sets up contacts, helps in brokering rights and licences, as well as in promoting exports to the relevant countries. In this way, it creates networks between German and international exhibitors from the widest range of regions around the world.
